What We Do
At Heath Engineering we provide structural engineering services for the following:
Why Choose Us?
At Heath Engineering, we are a small team of experienced, highly trained, and creative professionals focused on project success. Our reputation is built on attention to detail, responsiveness, and a willingness to collaborate on practical, creative solutions. In short, we care.

Engineers are frequently criticized for being difficult to work with, producing drawings that are hard to read, creating designs that are difficult (and expensive) to build, and for poor communication. At large engineering firms, experienced engineers are often present during the initial meetings, but projects are then handed off to junior staff with little (or no) oversight. This leads to friction during the design stage, more issues during construction, and ultimately higher construction costs for the building owner.

At Heath Engineering, we are different. We understand the realities of construction because we come from that world — which means we recognize the importance of pragmatic solutions, clear drawings, and prompt communication. Clients value our ability to collaborate and solve complex challenges creatively without losing sight of budgets or schedules. Our experienced engineers remain involved from start to finish.

The results speak for themselves: the majority of our work comes from repeat clients who trust us to deliver consistent results, project after project. Heath Engineering stands out as a trusted partner focused on project success — with smart solutions, valued partnerships, and proven results.

Meet Our Principal Engineer.
Daniel Heath, P.Eng
Daniel grew up in Perth, Australia, and earned his engineering degree from Curtin University of Technology in 2003. He graduated at the top of his class, receiving awards from both the Concrete Institute and the Steel Institute of Australia. Originally planning a career in construction, Daniel worked for several large construction companies before transitioning into multifamily residential construction and eventually into engineering design.

In 2006, Daniel left Australia to travel the world before settling in Canada. He initially lived in Edmonton, where he worked on a variety of construction projects, before moving to Calgary in 2010 to focus on engineering design.

Outside of work, Daniel enjoys skiing, road biking, mountain biking, hiking, photography, and spending time with his family.
Our Story

Mount Henry Bridge, Perth
Company founder, Daniel Heath, graduated grew up in Perth, Australia and graduated from Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia, 2003. After graduating he worked for Leighton Contractors in Perth for several years as a field engineer coordinating construction, resolving on-site issues and interfacing with design professionals. He gained valuable experience with costing, scheduling, dealing with trades personnel and quality control. With Leighton Contractors, Daniel was involved with the Mount Henry Bridge construction from start to finish. The Mount Henry Bridge is a 600m long incrementally launched bridge over the Swan River in Perth, and the project involved the twinning of the existing bridge to add traffic capacity and a future light rail corridor. Daniel was also responsible for the subsequent rehabilitation and strengthening works of the existing bridge which involved installation of new post-tensioned bars and cables, concrete rehabilitation and bearing replacement.

Oil sands, Fort McMurrary
In 2006, Daniel left Australia for Canada and worked for another large infrastructure company, Kiewit Construction. With Kiewit, Daniel worked on several large oilsands projects in Fort McMurray and Cold Lake, again as an on-site field engineer coordinating construction works.

Terra Sol Court, Edmonton
Daniel then transitioned into multifamily construction on Terra Sol Court, a 140-suite condominium project in Edmonton, Alberta. On this project, Daniel was the on-site superintendent and responsible for all on-site construction coordination, safety, quality and subcontractors. The project was built in two phases starting in 2006 and finishing in 2008. On this project, Daniel gained experience with commercial/residential trades and disciplines.

Initially registering his company in 2008 as "Daniel Heath Construction Ltd", Daniel originally planned to enter the small building construction market as a general contractor, however after obtaining his P.Eng designation he transistioned to structural engineering and renamed his company "Heath Engineering Ltd".

Today Heath Engineering works provides a wide range of structural engineering services for the building industry from Calgary, Alberta.
